survive the madness

Here in Texas we are all preparing for one of the most exciting events in town SXSW an interactive festival around town where everyone from music lovers, movie directors, celebrities, local celebrities, fashion enthusiast and all sorts of creative people unite to celebrate, listen, watch and enjoy each others talents not to mention the great networking + FREE stuff everywhere.

All of that sounds like a lot of fun and games but in reality it takes A LOT of walking, sun exposure, hair madness and wardrobe malfunctions. This is why i have gathered a quick list of the MUST have items to survive this SXSW.

This 6 little items are essential to be picture ready in 1 minute!

1. First things first, you NEED a lot of sunscreen specially because the texas weather has been so crazy you never know what kind of change you will encounter and you need to make sure your skin is not going to suffer consequences.  I recommend an SPF of 30 to be the least just so you don't have to be re applying over and over.

2. Dry shampoo is so so so so great and handy dandy i truly love the new Paul Mitchell Dry Wash it literally makes your hair feel fresh and clean in less than 5 minutes. It gives an amazing volume if you have your hair down or wavy its a perfect way to keep it that way. If you have had it in a bun for the first half of your day, feel free to bring it down as the day cools off and add some Dry Wash and keep enjoying the show. No need to go back home! (remember parking sucks)  You can get your hands on this product at any paul mitchell salon or you can always come and see me at Transformation salon for travel sizes!

3. My favorite thing that is a staple in my purse before i leave home is bobby pins! they will save you from the crazy little hair standing up  or make it easy for you to clip away hair from your face when you are about to walk into a photo booth. They are truly life savers!

4. Why makeup remover wipes? because you will sweat, and its an easy way to reset your makeup in a quick stop. Wiping your face clean will help you avoid any blackheads caused by the dirt and heat of the day. Just simply wipe, remove dirt, reapply sunscreen no big deal.

5. Tinted Moisturizer is a great way to get a quick even coverage with a very natural look and it has a shield also against sun (the more protection against sun the better !)  instead of carrying a full on foundation + powder i recommend bb cream or tinted moisturizer. Quick and simple.

6.  Last but not least... Deodorant ! it is always safe to keep a travel size deodorant on your bag because you always want to be hug ready in case you run into your favorite celebrity , a long lost love or maybe even your future husband. You don't want to be caught off guard. Ever.

This is what i usually carry when going on sxsw adventures or even music festivals and it has made my
adventures so much more pleasant. Remember you always want to be picture ready, your memories are being made every second  and you have to look the part.

Hope this helps! if you have any questions or additional suggestions for all our readers feel free to comment below.

Happy South by girlfriends!

Ultimate Face Cosmetics: Molding Artist + Shaping Futures.

This past November i was honored to attend my third Ultimate Face Cosmetics training held at Paul Mitchell The school. This make up company is one of my favorite lines for professionals and I'll tell you why. Ultimate face has a big compromise with professional makeup as well as the products this line provides. They are a company founded to supprot and educate professional make up artist, as opposed to big name brands they are dedicated to travel the world providing training and knowledge to the professionals, building trust for their brand.

This company has been founded by visionaries in the beauty industry, hard working people with a vision and a commitment. Laurie is a huge inspiration to me because she has built this company with her husband and their success comes from doing what you feel right in your heart. They are a great example of a helping company. They want to set up professionals for success and they are doing it.
I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to meet this great entrepreneurs and leaders.

The company co-owner Laurie Spellman and her team of talented artists held a very intense training about color laws, highlighting and contouring for every day looks, photography and runway.

I have a very special place in my heart for ultimate face because they not only have the original mineral makeup but they are committed to creating products that are animal cruelty free, with less harmful chemicals and durable synthetic brushes.  It really gives a peace of mind knowing that you are performing makeup services , applying beautiful colors with products that did not harmed any living creature in the process.

For the longest time i thought i was not capable of doing makeup until i attended the first UFC class, from there i have attended 3 and i will continue to attend their classes. I now feel comfortable with the skills they have taught me and look forward to one day be an educator for this awesome brand!

If you have not jumped on the Ultimate Face wagon i invite you to learn more about their training classes, seminars and certifications.  Click HERE for more info on how you too can be a national makeup artist!

What is your favorite Makeup line and why? Do share!

Inspired much?!

Just arrived this week from Fabulous Las Vegas Nv where i attended the annual North American Hair Styling Awards which are "the oscars" for hair. In addition of being honored to be invited and surrounded by great leaders in the beauty industry, they also made sure we were able to make the best out of our networking parties.

It was a real dream to be able to interact with legends like Fernando Romero, Vivianne Mckinder and Stephanie Kocielski. The new talent was also present and did not hesitate to give us all their best advice on how to make it into the beauty world.
Oh and i took my new nikon j1 so , yes i went crazy taking pictures.
Here are some pictures on what was the first and best beauty queen summer adventure!

hey paul mitchell geeks! behold the first COLOR BAR ever.

When the weekend almost came to an end we decided to have a fancy dinner courtesy of Paul Mitchell. We went to the Sugar Factory. Completely fell in love with the place and they found out my birthday was in a couple of days so they brought me a celebratory cupcake!

It was sad to leave such a weekend full of unimaginable inspiration and amazing people, but i was tired and to be honest i missed my apartment.
I enjoyed reading some of the few magazines i was gifted at the convention and of course my green tea while watching clueless to avoid the stress of a turbulent plane ride back home.

What-a-weekend! Blessed. Forever grateful for this opportunity.
If you have any questions on PBA/BEACON or how to attend this type of event, please let me know i am more than happy to point you in the right direction so you can TOO live a beauty dream.
much love,

Elements Hair Show.

This past month i had the opportunity to participate in a Paul Mitchell The school Austin. The theme as the four elements which are water, air, fire and earth. I was so very excited to be part of the fire category, i brainstormed and came up with a geisha on fire type of look. I am a part time crafter so adding external media to accomplish a look like this is always a pleasant challenge for me.
I have been very cautious at times when it comes to avant garde looks but when it comes to this one i was able to achieve a clean and trendy look playing with shape.
It was a great experience! i received a lot of compliments on the hair design and even an invitation to tour one of the judges salon !

the little joys in life remind you why you do what you do <3
